There are more than 10000 private schools in the state of Tamil Nadu.

There have been insistent demands from the public as well society-enthusiasts asking the government to look closely at the fees structure of the private schools who keep charging not only exorbitant sums for even lower classes and also increasing them by a steep margin every year.

So, a committee was formed by the state government in the year 2013 to review and fix the fees structure for the private schools with the retired Justice S. R. Singaravelu as the Head of the committee.

The school fees were determined according to the infrastructure of the school, laboratory facilities, teachers, employees etc by the committee. The fees structure for private schools was determined for the respective years 2013 14, 2014 2015, 2015 2016.

The tenure of this committee headed by S. R. Singaravelu has now expired.

So, a new head has been appointed. The retired justice T.V. Masilamani has been appointed as the head of the committee to review and fix the fee structure of the private schools. The tenure for Justice T.V Masilamani will be 3 years.
