Here comes the new Beta version of WhatsApp on Android platform that will allow freeing up your phone space without the need for deleting the necessary data. The feature has also been made available on iOS for quite some time.

In the Setting menu on Android, WhatsApp has introduced a storage management section. Here, users can find the detailed breakup of the total space occupied by all your chats, media content including images, videos, GIFs, etc.

On Android beta version 2.17.340, this WhatsApp version is currently being tested.

Upon installation, open Settings, and click on Data and Storage users and open up Storage Usage. You will get the list of all chat conversations made with your contacts and the space occupied by each and every chat thread. Further, the group or individual chat that has occupied most space on your phone will also be displayed, thus simplifying things when you delete data from your list.

Click on the group or individual chat and you will get the complete breakdown of each and every kind of message like text, GIF, videos, images, audio messages, files, locations, contact, etc shared through chat. At the bottom of the screen, there is Manage Message option. This will allow marking the sections to delete them.

The primary aim of this feature is to weed out the unwanted content that are totally eating up storage space on your smartphone.
