Revision in cut off for engineering admission

An order is recently issued from the Higher Education Department recently. This is to notify the eligibility for admission in Under Graduate engineering courses with the Anna University and other colleges affiliated to it.

A minimum score of 45% is necessary for getting admitted under the open category whereas the same is 40% for reserved category comprising BC, M BC, ST and SC. This criteria is to come to effect starting from the following academic year. There has been a lengthy legal combat by the All India Council for Technical Education since 2010-11. Ever since then, the eligibility has been fixed at 50% for the open category and for BC and BCM category, it use to be 45% and for MBC and DNC candidates, it used to be 40%, and finally for SCA, SC and ST category, it use to be 35%.

Dated February 26, the latest GO from Mangat Ram Sharma, the Higher Education Secretary says that the government has deeply examined and finally decided to adapt proposals by the Technical Education Department. Accordingly, the eligibility scores  for student admission in B.E and B.Tech courses are reduced for the academic year 2019-20.

As of now, students having 35% scores are admitted in reserved category of state government colleges, and the score for open category is maintained as 40%.
