Buttermilk or curd - which is more suitable for the summer season?

Usually, during the summer seasons, there are problems encountered in the digestion of food. If curd rice is taken during the summer season, it takes a long while to digest and creates more problems in the digestion system. This will tend to increase the body heat. So, it is better to take buttermilk rather than curd, especially during the summer seasons.

Both buttermilk and curd bring coolness to the body. However, buttermilk has the property to keep this coolness in the body for a much longer period as compared to curd.

One may take buttermilk adding ginger, asafetida, and cucumber. It is not harmful to use curd to mix with rice and take curd rice.

As per the Ayurvedic medicinal system, the curd is an item which should not be included as a daily item. As per the Ayurvedic medicinal system, it is mentioned that taking curd on a daily basis will increase the fat content in the body and also can cause skin complaints, breathing problems, cough, etc.

Though it is mentioned that only curd is harmful, it can be converted into buttermilk after extraction of the butter out and used as buttermilk. For the humans, buttermilk is an equivalent of nectar. Taking buttermilk regularly on a daily basis will help cure a variety of diseases. It can cure Calcium shortage, the ulcerous complaint in the stomach, and loss of water in the body.

Buttermilk removes the unnecessary toxic contents in the body. It helps the digestion process. It cures the ulcerous complaints in the mouth and stomach. However, on the other hand, curd brings only heat to the body. Especially people with piles complaint should never take curd they should take only buttermilk.

It is a strict advice not to take curd as a daily item. There is no point whatever in taking with an assumption it will cool the body on the other hand, the curd will only increase the heat level in the body.

There are people who make what they think is buttermilk after mixing curd with water and whipping. However, only when the butter is extracted and removed from the curd, then only it is called buttermilk.

So, it is always better to use buttermilk instead of curd in the summer seasons.
