Train fares to go up soon

The information is gathered from reliable sources that the train fares are likely to be revised up shortly.
Most citizens in the country depend on trains for their travels. The main reason for this is the reasonable fares which they can afford.
It may be noted that the train fares have not been revised over the last few years. However, based on the appeal from the Ministry of Railways, the Prime Minister’s Office has granted approval for an upward revision of train fares before the end of this year.
The reasons for the upward revision of train fare
Indian Railways have been catering to the travelling needs of the country by running thousands of train across the length and breadth of the country in all directions connecting several places.
With its huge network of services, Indian Railways have large expenses towards the services, fuel, and the salary of its large workforce.
Indian Railways earns revenue through passenger service - 57% and suburban train services - 37%.
Among the avenues for revenue, it is notable that a good part of the profits is earned from the Railway A/C 3rd class services.
A detailed analysis and inspection and reviews were carried out by the Railways to devise actions on how to get over the losses from different fronts. A report was prepared.
This report was sent the PMO (Prime Minister’s Office) for approval. Approval has been given for the upward revision of fares.
So, the official announcement regarding the increase in train fares is expected to be announced shortly.
