Supreme Court: No objections to central government plans to link Aadhar card

Posted on: 27/Jun/2017 3:53:45 PM
The Supreme Court has informed that it cannot block the decision of the central government to link Aadhar card with its social welfare schemes.

The central government has taken a stand that Aadhar card will serve as the key link for the public to receive the various social welfare schemes. It has given a deadline till 30th September to link Aadhar cards with social welfare schemes.

A petition was filed in the Supreme Court against this stating that this measure is against the law and it should be withdrawn.

When this petition came up for enquiry today (Tuesday, 27th June), the Supreme Court gave the verdict that the central government cannot be faulted for this and it is not possible to impose an interim ban. The case was adjourned to 7th July.
