Posted on: 18/Dec/2017 10:29:17 PM
The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that a new low-pressure zone has formed over the Andaman Sea.

The centre officials explained in this regard that presently, cool winds from the coast blowing to the land from the Northeast and East directions. Due to this, the formation of rain clouds gets thwarted by the wind. In this situation, a new low-pressure zone has formed over the South Andaman and its adjacent areas.

However, there are no possibilities this low-pressure zone causing any rain in the state of Tamil Nadu. Still, this low-pressure zone is being continuously monitored.

There are prospects of rain with thunder in a few places in the next 24 hours in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Chennai Metro City will remain somewhat cloudy. There may be light rain in a few places in the city.
