Solar Eclipse 2017
This year, solar eclipse is going to be on 21st August for the very first time since 1918. This event will take place for about 2 daylight hours of which 2 minutes of full darkness will be experienced. It will start at 1.15 EDT and will get over at 02.49 EDT. This will travel along the US, coast-to-coast at 1,500 mph or 2400 kph. As per sources, the solar eclipse will begin from the North Pacific and end in the Atlantic, thus encompassing 8,600 miles.

In 2024, the next solar eclipse quite the same as this will be observed. This will cover US between Texas and Maine.

Who can view it?
The only country that can witness the solar eclipse is the US. Across 14 states in the US, the solar eclipse can be witnessed starting from Oregon in west up till the South Carolina that lies in the east. A lot of people are expected to travel to the place for viewing the eclipse. Astronauts will also be capturing this event from International Space Station.

About 86 percent of sun will be covered in Minneapolis, 82 percent in Miami, 66 percent in Montreal, and 38 percent in Mexico City. There will be partial solar eclipse in regions outside the US. There is also going to be a live broadcast of the event from NASA.

In the entire history, no such celestial event has been possible to get explored from these many vantage points from space, air or ground, says Thomas Zurbuchen, the associate administrator of NASA’s Science Mission Directorate in Washington.
