Is it healthy to take higher quantities of ginger tea?

Sure, ginger is good for health. However, following the oft-repeated saying that anything in excess is not ok, taking too much of  ginger is harmful.  Ginger tends to neutralize the acidity in the stomach. Ginger cures some problems related to the stomach and the digestion system.

Ginger is especially good in curing cough and cold. It is also a good cure for vomiting and nausea.

Thus, ginger has quite a few medicinal properties. However, taking too much of ginger can bring some side-effects. It is advisable not take more than 4 grams of ginger per day.

Excess ginger can lead to increase the acidity levels. It can cause stomach pain and heartburn. If your body is sensitive, ginger may even cause allergy.

Taking an excess quantity of ginger tea can cause a sore tongue, burning sensation, mouth ulcer, and stomach burn.

Ginger reduces blood pressure. So, it is not advisable for people with low blood pressure to take ginger tea. Ginger contains a chemical known as salicylate. This chemical tends to reduce the density of blood. So, it is better for the people having blood-related problems.

People affected by a stomach ulcer, problems in the small intestine, etc, should not take ginger tea as it would worsen their ailment. Even pregnant women should avoid taking ginger tea. It tends to harden the womb. 

Especially weak pregnant women must avoid ginger tea as it may lead to blood-leak. Ginger should be avoided by people who had any surgery.
