Most of us in this world desire for body with great shape and muscles. Earlier it was men who showed huge interests in getting this type of body but these days we find many women also wanting to have well toned body.

To gain more muscle mass people consume protein powders as dietary supplements without knowing that these protein powders could also lead to many issues in us.

Next time when you want to consume protein powder for building muscle mass, just think of these side effects.

Creates digestive system upset - It is said that two most famous protein supplements namely whey protein and casein proteins are derived from milk and rich in lactose. Hence people who are lactose intolerant must not consume these protein supplements as these would cause pain in abdomen, bloating, vomiting, diarrhoea etc.

Produces acne in us - Production of sebum gets increased when we consume whey proteins that have bio-active peptides and hormones in it. Thereby acne appears on us and we might find it very difficult.

Toxic in nature - It must be noted that some protein powders have toxic metals like lead, cadmium, arsenic etc and intake of these could lead to many issues. Some issues like headache, pain in the joints and muscles, fatigue are common in persons who consume certain protein supplements.

Blood sugar levels gets disturbed - Increase in the blood sugar levels take place when we consume protein powders having chocolate or vanilla flavours. It is revealed that the presence of certain artificial sweeteners and additives could increase blood sugar levels. Whey protein intake could lead to decrease in the blood sugar levels.

Could lead to hair loss also - By consuming protein powders we are actually cutting vitamins, fats and carbohydrates that are important for the healthy hair. Hence telogen effluvium gets triggered leading to hair loss issues.  

Kidney problems - By consuming protein powders for long period of time it is revealed that persons would have huge risk of developing kidney disorders in them. It is worthy to note that consuming more protein powders could lead to more urea and it puts huge pressure on kidneys as they have to filter greater amounts of urea and calcium from the blood.

Lead to liver problems in us - Our body is pushed to the state of ketosis when we consume more proteins without any carbohydrates. As a result our body utilizes fat as primary source of energy. Blood acidity levels gets increased finally leading to liver disorders in us.
