Indefinite Deadline for Re-verification of Mobile Numbers with Aadhaar

The Update delivered on March 21 by the Department of Telecommunications (DOT) states the indefinite deadline rejecting the previous limit of March end. Now the deadline was kept over a free zone till the Supreme Court’s verdict in the current on-going case of validation of Aadhar and the new laws concerned with the Aadhaar Identification number.
The Aadhaar based e-KYC process is the target for the Central Government in accordance with the digitalization plans in all possible services and products related to business and public involvements. Now the Telecommunication Department announce about the extended deadline for re-verification of mobile numbers with Aadhaar details and based the extension till the SC’s authorized direction.
The press release by the Department of Telecommunications also mentioned that the mobile subscribers will not receive any such re-verification urgency messages or calls from their respective Telecom operators.
Keeping the privacy of the public in consideration, political parties and many public welfare bodies opposed the idea of enrolling Aadhaar details with all the verifications like Bank accounts, Mobile numbers etc.
Many Expert opinions suggest that linking Aadhaar will not be the right policy ensuring the security and privacy concerns of the public. So the bank account verification of Aadhar is also extended indefinitely.
