Internet browsing centre owners asked to help with online property registration

The registration department has sought the assistance of Internet browsing centres to solve the difficulty in registering property documents in new online process.

In an official statement, the department said, Owners of Internet centres can easily upload the documents as they have fluency in the online processes. So the Internet centres also can help people. The owners of Internet centres could apply to district registrars to get training.

The property registration in the state has been almost brought to a halt after the state rolled out online property registration on February 12. According to data, although 8,000 documents would be registered on any given day, nearly 8,000 documents have been registered since the rollout of the new process.

Says the department, As many as 13,557 documents have been uploaded to the server, of which 11,680 documents have been verified until Friday. In all, 8,017 documents have been registered through the online registration process.

Chennai and Madurai regions have recorded a registration of 1,028 and 1,030 documents. Thanjavur region registered only 504 documents, which is much lesser than other regions.
