Metro rail service between Saidapet - DMS from March 2018

The General Manager (Tunnelling section) of Chennai Metro Rail, V. K. Singh, informed that the Metro Rail Services for the public for the underground section between Saidapet - DMS will commence in March next year,
The general manager further informed that they planned to take out one of the giant machinery equipment via one of the 2 tunnels dug for the May Day Park - DMS section and took all the necessary preparations and commenced the work. However, this could not be done due to some technical problem.
This was analysed and rectified. After the rectification, they managed to take out the giant machinery via the Tummel day-before-yesterday (Wednesday, 18th October).
They plan to complete the balance tunneling work in this section by next month. Simultaneously, the setting up of the different Metro Stations has also been progressing smoothly. The activities of laying tracks and setting up signals are nearing completion.
As per the progress above, the Metro services for the Public in the section DMS - Saidapet will commence from March 2018.
The balance work will be completed gradually and by the end of next year, the Metro service for the public in the section Little Mount-Chennai Central will commence.
