The Director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre, S. Balachandran, informed that there are good prospects of a new depression zone to be formed over the Bay of Bengal around 15th October.

With the northeast monsoon rainy season set to start shortly, the Chennai Meteorological Centre has come up with the news that a low-pressure zone is to form over the Bay of Bengal.

The director explained that currently, the winds are blowing from the West. Because of this, there have been persistent rains in the adjacent states of Tamil Nadu. There is a cyclonic format stabilising in the upper layers of the atmosphere over the southeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood. Due to this, there are prospects of widespread rain in Tamil Nadu over the next few days. There are prospects of heavy rain with thunder in the western and the delta districts of Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, there are prospects of a low-pressure zone to be formed over the central-east Bay of Bengal around 15th October. This is being closely monitored by the meteorological centre. Only after this develops, the prospects of rain Tamil Nadu can be informed.
