TN govt - Driving licence mandatory for vehicle registration

Posted on: 26/Aug/2017 12:11:00 PM
The state government of Tamil Nadu has ordered the Regional Transport Officers not to register vehicles owned by people who do not have driving licences.

Most accidents are caused by the drivers mistakes. In order for the safety of the individual, the Central Motor Vehicle Acts and State Motor Vehicles Acts were integrated into a new format. This was done especially to monitor the activities and approach of the vehicle drivers and to reduce the number of violation crimes.

When the salesmen sell the vehicle to individuals, they have to strictly adhere to the above Acts. If the owner of the vehicle does not possess the proper driving licence, his/her vehicle must not be registered by the Registration Officer or the Assistant Registration Officer.

Further, the registration officers should keep the dealers and sales persons in their regions about this new order and the various motor vehicle Acts.
