Home remedies for dengue

Dengue is a viral infection caused in humans through female Aedes mosquito. Den 1, Den 2, Den 3, and Den 4 are the four serotypes of Dengue virus. One can observe dengue symptoms within 3 to 4 days. Dengue can be identified with high fever associated with rashes. When a person has high fever for 3 days continuously, blood test should be taken and checked if it is Dengue. Though there is not any specific treatment for Dengue, it is absolutely curable. When Dengue affects an infant or an old person, hospitalization is a must.
 
Dengue symptoms:
Drop in platelet count is the first characteristic of Dengue. Below are the most common symptoms of dengue

  • Severe headache
  • Pain in the eyes
  • Fatigue and exhaustion
  • Nausea
  • Skin rashes
  • Joint and muscle pain

What are the home remedies available for dengue?
There are a number of ways in which one can give home remedies for dengue. Listed below are some of those:
Giloy
This is a prominent herb in Ayurveda. It maintains metabolic rate and strengthens immune system. It helps prevent the body against infections. Take its stems and boil it. Serve it as a herbal drink. You may also add a few Tulsi leaves in the drink.

Fenugreek leaves
This helps in subsiding fever and also eases pain and gives restful sleep. Soak these leaves in water and drink it. Alternatively, use methi powder – mix it in water and drink the water.

Turmeric
Faster healing is possible with turmeric. Turmeric is usually had with milk. In India, since ancient times, Turmeric is used as a recovery measure.

Papaya leaves
Papaya leaves help in increasing platelet count. Crush a few of these leaves and drink it in order to flush out the toxin in your body/

Black pepper and Tulsi leaves
Boil Tulsi leaves and just a gram or two of black pepper. It largely promotes immunity in your body and fights bacteria in your body.

Coriander leaves
Coriander has the tendency to bring down your body temperature. Use it as a tonic.

Goldenseal
This is nothing but a herb. Its dried roots have medicinal values in clearing Dengue symptoms. You can chew it and swallow the juice extract or crush it and have the juice similar to papaya leaves.

Juice
Consuming pomegranate juice or black grape juice will maintain the necessary blood level in your body. At the same time, orange juice can trigger urine secretion and helps in healing faster. Take a lot of vitamin C rich fruits and veggies, as it help in absorbing iron more.

Fluid consumption
Fluids help in keeping toxins away and normalize body temperature. So, it is important to drink a lot of water.

Kakamach
It helps in soothing and cooling drink and sheds out toxin in your body. Drink 2 cups of this per day. It’s nothing but a syrup-like drink.
 
Tip:
Avoiding heavy food and fried items is important as those can increase nausea and indigestion.
