Soon, read on your smartphone even in bright light

Scientists have come up with a new anti-reflection firm with which people will be able to read from the smartphones and tablets during bright sunlight. The inspiration for this is obtained from the nanostructures present on moth eyes.

The surface reflection on this film is just 0.23 percent which is far lesser than iPhone’s 4.4 percent surface reflection, to note.

What makes reading on phone under bright light tough is the reflection caused on the screen. The display gets washed off by the strong light reflected out of the screen.

Shin-Tson Wu from the University of Central Florida in the US said that the film used on smartphones will be flexible and ant-reflective. So, smartphone screens will get converted into brighter and sharper displays.

Apart from the low reflection it exhibits, this film is also scratch resistant and it is self-cleaning as well. So, your fingerprint or any sort of dust would not affect it, said the lead of the study, Wu.

There are tiny uniform dimples on the new film. Each of these is of 100 nanometers of diameter. Soon next year, it is likely that flexible displays will enter the market. And this film can also be used on these flexible screens.
