Posted on: 23/Mar/2017 4:51:54 PM
The Northeast Monsoon this year had utterly failed to bring the expected rains and relief. So, the groundwater level all over the state of Tamil Nadu has receded considerably and dry conditions prevail throughout the state.

With the substantial reduction in the groundwater level, the impact of summer has already become severe with just the onset of summer in March. The people are subjected to great hardship in Chennai Metro as well as other parts of the state. The temperature recorded has already crossed 100 Degrees Fahrenheit in a few districts.

In this scenario, the Director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre, Mr S. Balachandran, has informed that the impact of summer heat will be much more severe in the months of April and May.

In an interview, he explained that the summer is yet to start in full swing.

The severity of summer will be more from April. The peak of the summer will be felt in the months of April and May. This year, the temperature will be more than the average recorded level.

The temperature has already touched 100 Degrees Fahrenheit in Paramathivelur. As there have been light drizzles in the coastal areas, the impact of heat is somewhat reduced.

The public feel that the summer effect is already in full swing. However, the real impact of summer is yet to start. The summer this year (2017) is very likely to be much more severe than the last year.
