Pongal Special Package to be distributed in the ration shops on 7th January

The state government of Tamil Nadu had announced a special Pongal festival gift package of 1 kg raw rice, 1 kg sugar, cashew nuts, dried grapes, cardamom and a 2’ long sugarcane piece to the RISI family card holders, Families with Police Family cards specially issued, and families of Sri Lankan Tamilians residing in camps.
This special Pongal gift package will be distributed on 7th January (today).
An official from the Public Distribution Department informed that following the announcement of the state government regarding the Pongal Special Gift package, the public can get this special gift package from the ration shops from 7th January to 12th January. The buyers have to bring their own bags for getting raw rice and sugar. 50 gm package combining cashew nuts, raisins, and cardamom will be given.
Around 1.80 Crore families in the state of Tamil Nadu will avail this benefit.
