Alarming dip in water table across Chennai city

Groundwater level in 15 areas of Chennai has come down between 0.97 meter and 2.92 meter due to the failure of monsoon. At this juncture when compared to December 2015 and December 2016, the Groundwater level in 15 areas of Chennai has come down between 0.97 meter and 2.92 meter
Since the monsoon failed, there is deficit of 61 percent rainfall in Tamil Nadu and 23 percent deficit in Chennai. Metro water has asked the residents to use the water that is being supplied for drinking and cooking alone. Besides judicious use of water, it is time for reuse and recycling of grey water.
