Maruti Suzuki to launch new Swift Dzire today

India`s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki is debuting a new generation of its very popular sedan, the Swift Dzire. The new car is based on the new Swift hatchback, which arrived in mid-2011.
The new Dzire is compact and has a shorter, less spacious boot. The decrease in the boot space will keep the car`s total length under four metres, allowing Maruti to gain a benefit on excise duty that is available to small cars only.
The new Dzire sports beige interiors, has the same diesel and petrol options and variants as its hatch sibling, but adds a new automatic transmission variant in petrol.
Maruti traded with over 2% gains in a down market today on account of higher than expected sales in January.
Car sales surged 5.2% to 1,15,433 units in January 2012 against 1,09,743 units in January 2011. Analysts had expected sales to fall 8.4% on a year-on-year basis. January sales include 14,386 units for export, a growth of 54.3%.
The strong growth in numbers came on the back of a 22% rise in volumes of high margin Swift model.
