Got kidney stones? You may now enjoy a roller coaster not just for fun, but as a treatment too. Scientists claim that the adventurous ride is helpful for the patients to pass on the stones and the success rate is as high as 70 percent.

Dr David Wartinger, urologist, Michigan State University, U.S. said that many of his patients said they could pass the kidney stone out of their body after taking a ride in the roller coaster. There are even patients who say they were able to get rid of three stones when they urinated at various times. On hearing these, he conducted a study to know whether these stories are true.

For this research, the doctor inserted three kidney stones of lesser than 4 millimeters. He kept these in a backpack and went on a ride in the roller coaster called Big Thunder Mountain. During the pilot study, the doctor observed 64 percent passage rate. At the same time, sitting in the first few cars of the roller coaster resulted in only 16 percent success rate.

During the expanded study, the doctor went on a ride with multiple kidney stones. This showed better results when the ride was made at the back side of roller coaster.
