Hyundai records highest ever sales

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), the country’s second largest car manufacturer and the largest passenger car exporter registered record domestic sales of 13.2 % in September 2011, growing cumulative sales by 12.4 %; exports grew by 11%.

HMIL’s aggregate sales for the month were 57,808 units against 51,444 units in September, 2010. Domestic sales were 35,955 units against 31,756 units in the corresponding month last year; exports were 21,853 units up from 19,688 units in September 2010.
 
Commenting on September 2011 sales, Arvind Saxena, Director - Marketing and Sales, HMIL said, “We will launch our much awaited compact car Eon this month. In spite of a sluggish market we expect Eon to boost our sales and increase market share.”
 
The segment-wise cumulative sales for the month of September, 2011 are as follows: A2 segment (Eon, Santro, i10, i20) 49,552 units; A3 Segment (Accent & Verna)  8,051 units; A5 segment (Sonata Transform) 7 units; Santa Fe (SUV) 198 units.
