India wins 11 gold medals at 12th South Asian Games 2016

The 12th South Asian Games 2016 witnessed a grand opening in Shillong on Saturday with an impressive crowd turnout at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
In the 12th South Asian Games India ruled the roost on track and field by winning 11 gold medals out of 12 on offer with javelin thrower Suman Devi coming up with the best show on the third and penultimate day of athletics competition.
Suman Devi (women`s javelin), Renjith Maheswary (men`s triple jump), Om Prakash Karhana (men`s shot put), PU Chitra (women`s 1500m), Ajay Kumar Saroj (men`s 1500m), Jauna Murmu (women`s 400m hurdles), Dharun Ayyasamy (men`s 400m hurdles), L Surya (women`s 10,000m), Srabani Nanda (women`s 200m) and men`s and women`s 4x400 relay teams won gold for India in a show of overwhelming dominance under overcast and cold conditions at the Indira Gandhi Athletics Stadium.
