8 light houses in Tamil Nadu to be transformed as tourist spots

Directorate General of Lighthouses and Lightships (DGLL) will be soon transforming 8 lighthouses of Tamil Nadu into unique tourism destinations. The Light houses chosen are Manapad (Tuticorin), Kilakarai ( Ramanathapuram), Point Calimere (Nagapattinam), Parangipettai (Cuddalore), Palaverkadu (Thiruvallur), Mahabalipuram ( Kancheepuram) and Muttam (Kanyakumari).
The tourism facilities being envisaged at these sites include viewing galleries, information and souvenir centres, eco-resorts with camp sites, restaurants and food cafes, family entertainment centres, sound and light laser shows, art and craft villages and accommodation facilities.
