Posted on: 09/Oct/2015 10:03:56 AM
A special committee constituted for restructuring the Civil Services examination system is expected to take 6 months to make its recommendations.

UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) is conducting Civil Services Examinations in 3 parts every year.

Accordingly, Preliminary examination, Main examination, and interview are the 3 stages in which Civil Service Examinations are conducted.

Officers to serve in IAS (Indian Administrative Service), IFS (Indian Foreign Service), and IPS (Indian Police Service) are selected through this process.

UPSC has now planned to restructure these examinations according to the needs of the present time and to reduce the unnecessary time delay, etc.

A special committee has been formed headed by the former IAS Officer and the former Secretary of Human Resources Development Department of the Central Government, Mr. P S Paswan.

This committee will research and analyse regarding the various changes for restructuring the Civil Services examinations and present its recommendations to UPSC. The recommendations are to be presented before next February. A UPSC senior official informed that restructuring will be carried out in Civil Service Examinations as per these recommendations.
