Instagram to allow media files in new layout

Posted on: 28/Aug/2015 5:17:01 PM
In addition to its signature square of Instagram for pictures and videos, it has added new layout options to it, aiming to attract more number of advertisers and to choose even more flexible services like Snapchat.

Ever since the purchase of this by Facebook Inc for $1 billion in the year 2012, this is the very first major alteration made on the social media service exclusively for photo sharing. This also addresses the wish of more than 300 million users who have been using the square format for photos and videos so far.

The social media marketing and advertising analyst, Debra Aho Williamson says this is a good move for grabbing more users and advertisers. You will be able to find more of the ad henceforth. This will certainly interest all the advertisers.

In fact, one out of five photos posted on Instagram do not really fit on the layout, it was mentioned in a post on Intagram. All the group shots are cut and this disturbs the subject of the video.

Instagram used in the computer or mobile or other gadgets will now allow portrait or landscape formats and this feature will be made available from Thursday. This will expand the available options for both advertisers and users too.

This is also a good move for Instagram to fight with its rival Snapchat which again is a fast messaging and media sharing market. Further, this move is also aimed at increasing advertisements and gain revenue. The platform for advertisers will be opened by the end of this year. Through advertising, about $600 million is likely to be generated by Instagram by the end of this year and by end of 2017, it will be $2.8 billion, says projections from research firm eMarketer.

Comparing this with Facebook the leading online social network, it made a revenue of $12 billion in the year 2014. The platform attained one billion users in just one day for the very first time on Monday.
