Onion price rises to Rs. 50/- per kg!

The price of onion has shot up suddenly in Chennai.A few days ago, onion was sold at Rs. 30/- to Rs. 34/- per kg. Today, it has increased to Rs. 40/- to Rs. 50/- per kg.
The vegetable shops inform that the onion price has increased by Rs. 10/- per kg.However, in grocery shop, they inform that the price of onion has increased by Rs. 15/-.
Onion price has increased in Koyambedu wholesale market as well.
Onion traders explained that the quantity of onion coming from the state of Maharashtra has come down because of reduced growth. 70 trucks used to bring onion. However, only 40 trucks bring onion in the last few days. Because of this shortage, the price of onion is likely to keep increasing in the current month.
