Use private school seats for free education, says Directorate

The Directorate of Matriculation Schools has said that private schools can give free education by filling up vacancies in their classes. According to the Directorate, this contributes to the right of every child to have compulsory and free education.

In a statement, the Directorate said that 25% of the seats in private schools are vacant, and that these schools to give education under the Tamil Nadu Child Rights Act to children from weaker and disadvantaged sections of society. Details of vacant seats available have been published in its website www.tnmatricschools.com. The list includes schools from Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Coimbatore, The Nilgiris, Ramanathapuram, Pudukottai, Thiruvannamalai, Vellore, Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Sivagangai, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Ariyalur, Perambulur, Trichy, Virudhunagar, Tuticorin, Erode, Namakkal, Tirupur, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Chennai, Dindigul, Karur, Theni, Cuddalore and Villupuram.

Those parents who wish to give their children a free education in a private school can approach them directly and collect applications.
