Madras Eye disease will be there up to July

Doctors have mentioned that the eye disease spreading in Chennai will continue till the month of July. This disease is due to summer. When compared to last year less number of people have been affected with disease.
 
The disease called Madras Eye will spread during the summer. As far as this year is concerned, this disease started affecting people during the month of May itself. The conjunctiva, which is the white area of the eye, turns red due to viral infection, causing pain and irritation. Sometimes, there are cases when it escalates to secondary bacterial infection. The disease is caused in Chennai due to pollution.
 
A  doctor of Government Eye Hospital while speaking said, “Very few people come here for Madras Eye treatment. When compared to last year, less people are affected with Madras eye this year. The impact of the disease will be up to July. Hence people should be cautious. The best way to prevent the spread of infection is to regularly wash the eyes with tap water. Patients are advised to use eye drops, maintain personal hygiene and wear dark glasses.”
