A new over-bridge at Kathivakkam Road at the cost of Rs. 115 Crores!

Chennai Corporation has planned to build a railway over bridge at the Kathivakkam Road – Manali Road Junction at a cost of Rs. 155 Crores. There are two railway crossings in Kathivakkam Road – Manali Road & Tondiarpet High Road. There is a heavy traffic jam in the areas of these 2 crossings.
A plan to construct an over-bridge was made 3 years ago and conducted surveys and seeking public opinions. However, this was shelved later. Now, Chennai Corporation has revived this project. It has made an estimate of Rs. 114.95 Crores for the construction of railway over-bridge.
There was an agenda to get approval for this project during the corporation meeting conducted yesterday (Wednesday, 28th May). However, because of the by-election announcement, this could not be taken up.
