Many of us have the habit of chewing gums.

However, this habit is harmful creating a lot of problems in our bodies.

As we give extra work to the muscles in the mouth, it creates problems in various joints in the body – shoulder, knees, etc.

Continuously chewing gum causes stress and pain in the joints & muscles which link the jaws to the skull.

As we chew more gums, we tend to inhale excess air in our breathing. This will create gastric trouble as well as pain in the lower stomach.

Further, problems like irritation in the chest, and digestions system may develop.

The people who chew gums are likely to suffer from severe headaches frequently! The main reason is the conditioning ingredients and flavouring agents.

Though it is true that chewing gums offer good exercise for the teeth & gums, excessive chewing can lead to the exactly opposite effect – causing great harms to the teeth & gums! The main reason for this is the sugar base in the chewing gum. This sugar happens to be an ideal food for the resident bacteria in the mouth. These bacteria grow well and then attack the teeth & gums!

It is also true that people with the habit of chewing gums have the frequent complaint of loose motion.

The artificial chemical flavouring agents such as Mannitol and Sorbital disturb the gut.

Continuous disturbance to the gut can result in diarrhoea and dehydration.

Some people have false teeth of mercury, silver, or tin to cover the gaps . When they chew gums, the mercury in the false teeth tends to get released and may enter the body. This is poisonous and will cause great harms to the body in a gradual process!
