Including greens in our daily diet is healthy for the body. Greens are rich in vitamins and minerals. Greens must be included especially for children for their healthy growth.

Greens are an excellent remedy for anemia. Check for freshness while buying greens. They should not have withered. Avoid greens which are full of worms or insects.

How to use greens?

·         Soak the greens in water for 20 minutes and clean. This will remove the soil and also reduce the toxicity of the disinfectant sprayed on it. As the growth of the green is affected by germs, disinfectants, and pollution, it is very important to wash the greens well before use.

·         Do not fry or boil the greens for a long time. It has to be fried only just for the right time.

·         A small quantity of water is sufficient to cook the greens.

·         Greens can be taken in all seasons. However, they have to be selected according to their basic properties.

·         It is better avoid taking greens during nights. As greens are rich in fibre, it takes a longer time for digestion.

·         Do not mix items like milk, curd, egg, or meat with greens. As greens are relatively mild as a food item, mixing these may cause constipation or some other stomach problems.

·         When cooking greens with pulses, make sure that the quantity of the pulses is comparatively less. It should not be equal or excess in quantity.
