Exorbitant hike in price of petrol and diesel

Following hike in price of diesel, lorry owners have decided to hike the price of their services too. This is likely to create a drastic hike in price of provision items and vegetables.
Price of petrol was increased by 0.82 paise per litre and diesel by 0.61 paise on 16th of last month. In addition to this, an announcement made recently has further created shock to the public. The announcement states a Rs 3.18 hike per litre of petrol and Rs 3.9 hike in diesel. This price hike came into effect on the day of filing the budget. This move made by the government has received opposition from varied political parties from all corners. They have insisted the government to withdraw this hike in price immediately.
