Less power cuts during this summer

Power cuts and load shedding are some common things for Chennaites during the summer. But this summer things would be different. There will be very less power cuts. The reason for this, 27 new substations are coming up in Chennai.
 
Four new sub-stations, at Greams Road, P.T. Rajan Salai in Ashok Nagar, Kovilambakkam and Rajkilpakkam, have been completed, the remaining 23 are under progress.
 
New sub-stations are proposed to be constructed at Madhavaram Leather Estate, Tiruvottiyur, R.V. Nagar, Kolathur, Korattur, Manali, McNichols Road, Vaigai Colony in Anna Nagar, Chitlapakkam, Ezhil Nagar and in space allotted by multi-storey apartments on Rajiv Gandhi Salai, Mudichur and Tirumangalam.
 
The sub-stations were being built under the Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (RAPDRP)
 
There was also a proposal to construct 110/33/11-KV sub-stations at Saidapet and Pulianthope. Proposals were being worked out for sub-stations at Porur, Pallikaranai, Keelkattalai, Kolapakkam, Seethalapakkam, Moovarasampet, Vandalur, Zameen Pallavaram and New Vadapalani.
