Chennai Corporation decides to induct 620 casual employees to permanent cadre!

When Chennai Corporation was expanded during the year 2011, some of the local administration offices were merged with it. However, the employees in these offices have been working in the casual employment cadre.
Cleaning assistants, office assistants, and electricians totalling 908 employees are in the casual cadre on a daily wage basis.
Chennai Corporation has now passed a resolution to induct these employees into permanent cadre.
Employees’ unions have been persistently demanding for these casual workers to be made permanent. Hence, the particulars of these employees will be obtained from Kanchipuram & Thiruvallur District collectors and then a letter would be sent to the Tamil Nadu state government to approve the request to induct them into permanent cadre.
Some of the 908 casual employees have been transferred to MWSSB. Some of them have abstained from work over along period. The remaining 620 employees will be indicted into permanent cadre.
