Social Audit Centre for furnishing details on Passport applications!

A social audit service centre has been opened in the Passport office in Chennai to furnish the status on Passport application as per the RTI (Right To Information) Act.
Chennai region passport office, Mr. Balamurugan, informed:
The applicants for passport can approach this counter and get the latest status on their applications for passport.
The details would be furnished without any charges as per the RTI Act.
A special official has been posted exclusively for this service.
On week working days, between 9.30 Am till 12.30 PM, details regarding Police check on the passport application, or the pending details, the details of the previous passport, or details of lost passport, certification for any urgent foreign travel, etc can be got.
Details, especially regarding long-pending passport applications can be had from this counter without any prior appointment by approaching the regional passport officer between 9.30 AM & 12,30 PM.
