Ingredients
- Kollu (Horse gram) - 1 cup
- Bengal Gram 1 spoon
- Urad Dal 2 spoons
- Curry Leaves a few
- Cooking oil 3 spoons
- Salt As required
- Mustard Seeds spoon
- Cumin seeds spoon
- Coconut a small piece
- Asafoetida a pinch
- Tamarind a small lemon size (about 10 grams)
- Red Chilli 3 nos
Method:
- Heat the dry pan and dry toast the Horse gram (Kollu), till you get the roasted smell. Then switch off the flame and keep aside in a separate plate to cool.
- Again heat the pan with 2 spoons of oil and add Urad dal, Bengal gram, and red chilli and fry all till the grams turns golden brown.
- Grind the roasted horse gram and the gram mixture in a mixer. In the half way through add salt, coconut and tamarind and grind it to a well ground paste.
- Heat the pan with 1 spoon of oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, asafoetida for tempering and drop it on top of the thogayal.
- Yummy Kollu Thogayal is ready! Serve this as a side dish for rice or idli or dosai. It is simple to prepare and better choice when we run out of veggies.
