Causes of Hiccups:

Health experts says that hiccups cause a rapid involuntary ripple of the diaphragm. "This is caused by engulfing air along with food, when consuming too fast, having spicy foods, gulping too much of aired drinks or alcohol, fear, excitement, quick temperature variations, specific medications or particular diseases and intestinal surgery and so on.

The medical term for hiccups is ‘singultus’; the state of holding reflex involuntary, recurrent, spasmodic jerking or ripple of the diaphragm and intercostal muscles.
