Central government has informed that it has set a target to complete gathering of all details relating to birth/death before 2020.
Minister of State for Home, Kiran Rijiju, announced this during the recent SAARC meeting conducted in Bangkok.
United Nations has set a target for all Asian & Pacific Countries to complete gathering of birth/death data before the year 2024. India has set a date target of 2020, 4 years earlier than the target set by UN.
This is huge & challenging task and had been named ‘Long Range Plan 2020’.
The current birth rate registration is 84% and the death registration is 67%.
