India ranks 7th in minority investor protection

As per a ranking released by the World Bank on Wednesday, it is found that India ranks 7th in minority investor protection which is racing past other countries like US, Japan, France, and Germany. The list is topped by New Zealand and this is followed by Hong Kong, Singapore, UK, and Malaysia. The report was released on Wednesday in the annual doing business report.
 
The sixth place is grabbed by Ireland for ‘protecting minority investors’. The seventh position is shared by India, Canada, and Albania.
 
Comparing the rank of India this year with the results of 2013, the country stood in 21st position last year. According to the comments from the World Bank, there is an improvement in the ranking owing to the improvement in several reforms launched in the country.

·         Korea and Italy – 21st rank
·         United States – 25th rank
·         Japan – 35th rank
·         Germany – 51st rank
·         Australia – 71st rank
·         Switzerland – 78th rank
