Central Government consults on compulsory education up to 8th Standard!

As per the legal acts on RTE (Right To Education), it is compulsory for all children to be provided with education till 8th Standard. With this stipulation, the students go through the next classes without acquiring the knowledge required for passing the lower level classes. They find it very difficult to cope up with studies when they reach higher classes.

With this drawback, the central government is consulting with all the state governments whether it is really necessary to provide compulsory education to all up to 8th Standard.

The system of compulsory passing in the lower standards enable the students to come up to higher classes without acquiring the knowledge at that level.

These students are pushed to reach the 10th Standard and the central government has taken due notice of this fact. It is now debating whether the compulsory passing in the lower standards is worthwhile or warranted.

The human welfare ministry has communicated to all state governments on this issue to seek their viewpoints or opinions on this issue.

It is gathered that states like Andhra & Karnataka have given their feedback that the compulsory passing system is NOT required. So far, no feedback has been received from the state of Tamil Nadu.
