Bye-bye Yahoo Directory

Here is an update from Yahoo, a sad one though!
Yahoo made its announcement about shutting down its Yahoo Directory, Yahoo Education that has been serving as an online portal for education services, and Qwiki, a mobile application which was in use for creating short movies compiling video files in a mobile device.
This directory of Yahoo was once considered the cornerstone of the internet giant. This service had popular sites listed in it based on categories rather than listing them on a keyword basis like the Google.
Well before the formation of the company, Jerry Yang and David Filo, the co-founders created the director in the year 1994 and called it ‘Jerry and David’s Guide to the World Wide Web.
It is said the official closure of the directory will be on December 31. Advertisers are said to receive updates on new service shortly.
