Income Tax raids Lalitha Jewellery

Officials of the Income Tax Department conducted searches at nine places belonging to a jewellery firm on Tuesday. Searches were conducted at three places in Chennai and six across the State and Puducherry.
Searches were carried out at the residence of the owner, the office and show rooms. Searches that began at 8 a.m. in Lalitha Jewellery continued till late in the evening. The operation was to ascertain whether there was a tax evasion over the last two years.
