Toll gate charges up by 15% in 21 toll gates in Tamil Nadu!

From today, the toll gate charges are increased by 15% in Tamil Nadu.
In Tamil Nadu, the total length of highways is about 4974 km.
These are under the control of the Central & State Highways department. Around 41 toll gates are functioning in these highways in Tamil Nadu.
During last January & April, the toll charges in 20 toll gates were raised. This rise comes into effect for the balance 21 toll gates from today.
The toll gates include Padiyanallur, Kodai Road, Velanchettiyur, Palayam, Vijayamangalam, Pudhur Pandiyapuram, Yeliarpathi, Rasampalayam, Omalur, Samayapuram, Morattapandi, Vaikundam, Nandhakkarai, Veerachozhapuram, Vazhavandhankottai, Vikravandi, Ponnambalampatti, Manavasi, Thirupparanthurai, Thirumathurai, and Sengurichi. The revised rates are up by 10 to 15%.
As an after-effect, it is expected that the rental fares for omnibuses & trucks will go up.
