Physical hygiene & nutritious food are very essential for women!

There was a seminar on the topic of ‘Hygiene & Health’ conducted in Arumbakkam, D G Vaishnav College. Dr. Premalatha, a maternity specialist doctor, delivered a lecture.

She observed that women should give close attention on their body & food. Hygiene & nutrition are very essential. Neglect would lead to a variety of problems such as intestinal worms, loss of blood, lack of nutrition, etc..

Women should use sanitary napkins during the menstrual cycle and should change them frequently during the period. This will certainly prevent any infectious diseases.

Excess eating of oily food items, total absence of physical exercise/exertion, and hereditary diabetes in women can cause irregularity in their periods. It is better to consult a doctor and take the prescribed treatment.

Vaccination for womb cancer prevention should be taken between the age of 12 & 45. ‘Pai smear’ test can show the likelihood of being affected by womb cancer 10 years later!

It is better to include greens, different cereals/pulses, jaggery, and millet regularly in the food intake.
