Enough of struggling with very low download speed. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has come up to set minimum broadband speed to be availed to their mobile or wireless subscribers. According to this, the minimum speed should be as follows:
  • 56 kbps minimum speed for 2G (GSM)
  • 1 mbps minimum speed for 3G (GSM) with 95 per cent success rate
  • 512 kbps minimum speed for CDMA HSD with 95 per cent success rate
  • 1 mbps minimum speed for CDMA EVDO with 95 per cent success rate
The authority has now come up with consultation papers for the same. This step is as a result of increasing number of complaints from the subscribers. Looking at the increased complaints, TRAI has identified imparting a minimum download speed to be the right move to resolve the issue faced by subscribers everywhere. TRAI division also added that there is no uniformity in download speed among various licensed service areas (LSAs)
