AMBATTUR

Ambattur is an important industrial town located in Chennai Extension. The town constitutes a regional suburb of the adjoining district of Chennai called Tiruvallur. The locality of Ambattur is essentially an industrial area. The industrial area was developed and made fully functional in the year 1964. The township features one of the biggest small scale industrial estates in whole South Asia. The place houses some of the reputed companies of India. Companies like TVS, Dunlop, T.I.Cycles, Brittania, Godrej and Boyco, etc., are some accredited ones located in the Ambattur suburbs. The regions also features few reputed software companies like HCL and Tata Consultancy Services.

The development as such has lead to the growing number of residential colonies in the outskirts. Some popular residential areas of Ambattur include Kamaraj Nagar, Balaji Nagar, Sathya Nagar, Periyar Nagar, Venkata Nagar, etc. Some renowned institutes in region include Vellamal Engineering College, Soka Ikeda College, Lady Violet's Women College, Hussain Memorial School, T.I Matriculation Higher Secondary School, G.K.Shetty Vivekananda Vidyalya, Sethu Bhaskara, etc. The hospitals contained within the suburbs precincts are Ess Vee Hospital, Sir Ivan Stedeford Hospital, Dr.RAbindran's Health Care Centre.
