Sahasranama

  (Daily 5.30 Pm)

Sahasranama as we all know is a deity referred to by 1,000 or more names. Sahasra means a thousand, or more generally, a very large number. Nama means name. The literal translation of sahasranama is "a thousand names". We often wish to visit a temple later in the evening so we can enjoy the chanting of sahasranama, sing along and have a look at the deity for the day being worshipped with all grandeur. However, it is not always possible to step out of home. This vaccum is filled by Sri Sankara through the programme sahasranama. Enriching homes and minds through divinity. Sri Sankara is promoting the fact that all of the most widely-known forms of the divine have sahasranama stotra devoted to them. Recitation and study of these often constitute part of the daily routine of formal worship both at home and in temples. Every viewer at his ease in the comforts of his home gets to listen to the chanting of sahasranama of a different deity everyday – 7 days of the week with the divine visuals of that particular deity being worshipped, throughout the programme. Every day of the week then turns out to be most special as an individual gets to see the grandeur with which different deities are worshipped with the background of sahasranama. It is a golden opportunity for everyone to learn and to refresh their memories of the sahasranama under the divine abode..
